Science Fiction Books

Paul earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Wittenberg University, and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He started writing "Hard" Science Fiction because he grew tired of watching protagonists race across the galaxy to save the day and still return home in time for supper. When not writing sci-fi, he is writing children's picture books, making films, camping, bird watching, and of course — reading.

Chilling & Vivid

So many parallels to various things—including to what’s happening right now—that make it so chilling.

The writing often makes you feel there. I can vividly imagine what it’s like to be there, to be subjected to all the horrors, to the depredations of the one world government.

Highly Recommend for Sci-Fi Lovers

I highly recommend “The Inheritance Saga” by Paul A. Schreck to anyone who enjoys sci-fi. I haven't enjoyed a series this much since the “Gone” series by Michael Grant.

Each book has kept me engrossed, with endings that left me wanting more. I can't wait for book 4 to be released!

Mastery in Character Development

The characters are astounding, the plot is exciting, and the science is convincing within its world.

If Schreck could be known for only one thing as an author, it would be his mastery in character development.

They’re all so real.  I started out thinking the protagonist was a jerk, but by the end he is an admirable—if flawed—human.

The Telos Gambit

Book 1, The Inheritance Saga

"To duty, no matter the cost."

After an alien invasion is repelled, the United Earth Government takes the next logical step — create a Strike Force to pursue the retreating aliens, taking the fight to their homeworld. It is, however, a plan with unintended (or unreported) consequences.

Families are assured they will be taken care of, and are shipped to base housing. They quickly begin to question just what being "taken care of" will actually entail.

Promised a safe return to their families, the Strike Force trains for battle while traveling aboard unproven Near-Light-Speed (NLS) starships.

The truth kept from everyone is a little detail called time dilation...

Book 2, The Inheritance Saga

"See you on the other side."

How does a Strike Force train to battle Raptors, an utterly alien enemy, in their environment — especially when nearly every other species on the planet seems to be just as deadly?

This is what Alpha Team faces as their inter-planetary journey continues. A rabbit-hole of conspiracies complicates their daily routine with countless distractions, clouding their judgement. An away mission while still en route brings an entirely new set of questions — and doubts.

Before they are ready, they find themselves in the crushing gravity of a hostile world struggling simply to breathe, let alone run. Even when running is all that might save them.

Book 3, The Inheritance Saga

"Find cover. They're here!"

When the cryonic chambers aboard an escape pod hiss open, the survivors of Alpha Team must decide if the planet they approach is Earth, or if something went terribly wrong with the automated guidance systems while they slept. The landmasses are utterly unfamiliar, leaving little doubt it is an alien world.

As they debate their options, orbital debris strikes the escape pod, and they tumble into the atmosphere. They struggle to control their descent, but the crash is devastating.

The team struggles — to survive once again, to come to terms with the violence of the past, and to understand the complex social structures of a place which, to all appearances, is idyllic.
